2500 Brazilian students coming to the Netherlands

At the request of Brazil, the Netherlands will make 2100 places available for Brazilian students. Also, 400 graduate and talented researchers will have the opportunity to gain experience here.

Rosenthal, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, said that after consultation with the Brazilian Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation. The country has a shortage of qualified staff,  so the high quality of education in the Netherlands should contribute to a better scientific cooperation.

Dutch courses can also benefit from the arrival of the Brazilians. “Besides extra income for the Dutch knowledge institutes, this initiative gives a major boost to scientific cooperation between the Netherlands and Brazil,” said Rosenthal.

Recently there was a discussion about the cost of foreign students in the Netherlands. Figures from the Central Planning Bureau shows that the government will eventually benefit from their arrival.
