Cultural festival Incubate, the annual celebration of independent culture in Tilburg, has been awarded the Most Fun City Event of the year. The decisive factor was the project ‘Play Me, I’m Yours’ during the festival’s last edition, when 101 public pianos were placed throughout Tilburg.
In the category of Event City of the Year, Tilburg was not nominated. The awards were handed out by mayor of Utrecht Aleid Wolfsen, on behalf of de stichting Nationale Evenementenprijzen (Foundation National Event Awards) last Friday,
The successful ‘Play Me, I’m Yours’ is this year followed by ‘Inside Out’ by the anonymous French artist JR. Hundreds of posters with the theme ‘mothers’ will decorate the city of Tilburg, and every mother can be a candidate for this. The project, with different themes, has already been hosted in many other cities.
Incubate 2012 takes place from 10 to 16 September on more than twenty different locations in Tilburg. Already more than 100 artists have confirmed to come, and one of them is Yann Tiersen, whose Amelie tune was played on the public piano’s a lot last year.
