More Tilburg Uni students in distress
More and more students see the student psychologists at Tilburg University. The waiting time for a first meeting has increased to two weeks. That is why extra trainings are offered, says student psychologist Jos Haarbosch.
The number of students that consult a student psychologist is growing each year. Also the student’s complaints have changed. More and more complaints involve stress, work pressure, worrying, overload, not having a grip on life, and burnout.
Due to the recent budget cuts, the psychologists can not get extra working hours. Instead they offer more courses to students, including ‘Active Study’ and “Anti-Pieker Training’ (piekeren = worrying). The psychologists also give advice by e-mail.
