University College in monastery complex Tilburg

Studying in an old monastery, it will be possible in Tilburg soon. The University College will, if all goes according to plan, be located in the monastery complex De Rooi Harten at the Bredaseweg in Tilburg. The building is now being renovated.

A financial feasibility study is currently being done, according to chairman of the Executive Board Hein van Oorschot. He would not reveal how much the building is going to cost. Van Oorschot says that the university has asked for provincial subsidies. The province recommends in its spring note 2012 to re-allocate a number of cultural-historical complexes, including monasteries, with high quality partners.

Dean of the Tilburg Law School Randall Lesaffer confirmed two weeks ago that there were plans for the University College. It would be used for the study programs Economics and Global Law. According to Van Oorschot study program Liberal Arts as well. 70 to 100 students per year per study program will be selected. [MW]
