First night shop in Tilburg

It’s 1.00 and you are out of booze and cigarettes. All supermarkets in Tilburg are closed, so you either have to go to a bar or leave your addictions for the morning. Not anymore! Last Friday, the first night shop in Tilburg opened its doors on the Besterdring.

The shop is open until 2.00. “Only drunk people will come in after that time,” says the owner, Ugur Suverekli on BD.nl. Earlier this year, the municipality decided that shops cannot stay open after that time, even if they wanted to. People in the neighborhood were worried that the shop would attract too much people and noise to the street. The owner has placed sixteen surveillance cameras in and around the shop to reassure them. They also help to prevent people from hanging around the shop.

Besides the craved cigarettes and beer, you can also buy things like toothpaste and cheese at The Avondwinkel, as the shop is called. You can even buy spirits, but only until 22.00. After that, shop employers will deliver it to you.
