Training Days

“Ciao San, come va?‘ ‚Hey Sabatino, veramente bene!” I had a big grin on my face as I stepped into my cubicle and looked around. With my lucky bamboo and my enormous picture frame it already felt like home. “Bonjour San, tu est prête?” “Prête, Josephine?” “Aar ü readi tü go? Iriis is probabli alrreadi vaiting?” “Ahh, the training! Zut alors!” I grabbed my Engineering Manual (the bible of the training class), my notebook and sprinted with my training buddy Josephine towards building 91. “Good morning, girls! So, is everything going well?” Chevonne, our HR pearl, was standing at the printing machine as we dashed by.

The S1100 Flush Grid

“Aw, it is going great! We had belt building this morning and worked on a S1100 Flush Grid! That was almost cooler than playing with Lego! And now we have a training with Iris… .” “Haha, production line training?” “Ah oui, et c’est commence m-a-i-n-t-e-n-a-n-t, San!” “Ah oui! See youuu, Chevonne!”

Abbreviation Time

This is what it is all about in the beginning of any kind of job, training, training, training! It is the time when you feel like an ignorant fool for not knowing what BDA, ITL, ARB, CIS, or CRS stand for. And FYI, I loved every second of it! Regardless of the future, it was way better than just sitting at home and only searching for the permanent job. No, this way I had it both: A great opportunity to learn something completely new and exciting for a few months, meeting new interesting people and getting a sneak preview of a business branch that I didn’t even consider getting to know.

Keep the ‘positive drive’

As I was listing to Iris’ enthusiastic introduction of the Series 1800, 1850, 11600 and 11650 Belts, I couldn’t help but feel a bit sad. ‘Ah (sigh), wouldn’t it be nice if THIS would be the permanent job already?’ I thought to myself while I inspected a Belt S1800 to examine the type of plastic it consisted of. ‘Aha, cheer up, San!’ I scolded myself immediately just as I discovered that the belt was made out of Polypropylene. ‘Just keep the ‘positive drive’ because only the future knows what it will bring!’
