Thesis ‘fascism and Freedom Party’ awarded with a 10

Liberal Arts & Sciences student, Henk Bovekerk, has received the highest mark for his bachelor thesis. His bachelor thesis entitled, Prototypical Fascism in Contemporary Dutch Politics: An Analysis, was awarded with a 10.

Following the book, De Eeuwige Terugkeer van het Fascisme (The Eternal Return of Fascism) by Rob Riemen (2010), Bovekerk performed an analysis of the Partij Voor de Vrijheid (Freedom Party) of Geert Wilders.

Rob Riemen states that Geert Wilders and his movement are the prototype of modern fascism. What do we exactly mean by fascism? Is there indeed a return of fascism? Are Geert Wilders and his movement the prototype of modern fascism? According to the work of historian, Robert O. Paxton, and after studying the works of Geert Wilders and Martin Bosma, Henk concludes that the Netherlands is indeed dealing with a fascist party in an advanced stage: the PVV (Freedom Party).
