Checkmate in the Sports Center

The Sports Center recently started a chess course. Thursday 12 December, the first students received there chess diplomas.

“Chess is making the right moves in the given time,” teacher Eric Mathieu tells his students. Even though he is stating the obvious, his advice is welcome for the students, whom are playing fast-chess. One of the students is biting his fingers, while the minutes on the clock tick away. Playing chess with a clock that keeps track of time is a skill that students learn in the course and today they receive their diploma.

The students did very well in the course. Some scored 8 or 9 out of 10, one of them even got full score. In the next semester, new students are welcome to participate in the course. For more information, check the website of the Sports Center.
