Student LGBT-association in formation

Tilburg was the only university without an association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people. And that was embarrassing, according to a group of students. Five of them stuck their heads together and this resulted in the brand new international association VITRUVIAN.

Right now, the focus lies on getting VITRUVIAN known to students. On march 13, the board will present a film about being transgender during Gender Unlimited, a day in the context of the new Gender Policy of Tilburg University. President Pieter Donkers: ’the film focuses on what it’s like to live as a transgender, not so much on the whole process that someone who is transgender goes through’.

Last Thursday, plans were made to expand the association. VITRUVIAN is not only for LGBT-students, but for everybody and a great focus will be put on artistic activities. Next to that, there will be room for students who want to talk about matters around sexuality and there will be frequent drinks where people can hang out together.
