Little Devil – Stationsstraat 27
The Stationsstraat is crowned with a bar where beer, music and fun reign supremely all year round. Heavy rock, death metal, hardcore punk and all the ramifications of these genres reverberate through the cafe. Chances are that upon entry, you’ll see an admirable live band blowing the roof of the joint. The crowd is cool and nonchalant, but usually still in for a corny chat.
Kandinsky – Telegraafstraat 58
It is a little bit of a search indeed, but it’s well worth the effort. Between the smaller streets of Tilburg lies the alcoholic Valhalla. This is the place where you can hear drunken angels sing. With a list of more than 200 beer varieties, a visit to Kandinsky will NOT be your average night of drinking, but rather an adventure you simply must have experienced at least once.

Café de Lollipop – Paleisring 25
Perhaps the most famous gay bar in the Netherlands. The audience is enthusiastic, outspoken and sometimes going completely nuts. The spacious and cheerful accrued party room regularly bursts at the seams with true party animals coming off on dance, top40-, party and Dutch music. The booze is cheap and there is almost always some sort of campaign for even cheaper beer and shooters.
Bolle – Piusplein 8
Bolle is justly one of the most popular student bars of Tilburg. The bar at the Piusplein really knows the recipe of a swell night out: great music, horny bubbling students and beer flowing in abundance. Every Tuesday evening it’s time to throw the dice and the pub will give away free booze half of the time – quite a nice thing for your wallet!
Extase – Heuvelring 112
Extase is an alternative oasis in the heated and violent nightlife. In this pub, you will not hear evil hits, screaming DJs or laborious opening sentences. The audience is diverse in terms of age and – just like the staff – super friendly. But be sure to check the local agenda before you visit. If there’s no band playing, you’ll only find: an empty bar.
Studio – Heuvel 7
Cheap cocktails and pitchers full of beer. For those who really want to let it flow, this is just the right spot. The crowd is totally ‘in’ and the majority of the hips are moving rhythmically to the best beats, the hardest hip-hop tunes and banging party music. Navel sweaters and skinny jeans are the rule rather than the exception. If you’re looking for an evening of dance and female as well as male beauty, this is the place to be!

Polly Maggoo – Heuvel 10
It is said that every Saturday night there’s always somebody cheating on someone. And yes, for students wanting to do some extensive French kissing, this cafe is reasonably fit for the purpose. Well after midnight, that is. Not every woman here will have the classic beauty of the actress playing the movie’s supermodel Polly Maggoo, but that’s only because Tilburg is reality in the purest sense.
Buitenbeentje – Heuvel 15A
Those who want to meet up with both eccentrics and people who managed to stay just normal, do well to frequent Buitenbeentje. The prices are low and you can get to terms with your own prejudices here. Some additional luck: you can drink a lot for very little. And as the bar stools in this establishment all have shortened legs, no drunkard will fall hard.
Cul de Sac – Heuvel 48
Are you more on the alternative side and looking for other rock hipsters? Then ‘De Cul’ will definitely be your favourite hangout. The cafe at the end of the Heuvel has a great layout; the dance floor is lower than the rest of the pub. The atmosphere is so chill that the bartender has been working there for over 12.5 years now. The only real drawback – which is a huge minus indeed – is the beer served here. Heineken.
Café Jack’s – Tuinstraat 81
If you’re a games fanatic, eat your heart out at Jack’s, the bar with the largest board game collection in Tilburg. No more boring family evenings if you take them here with you. In addition, an ideal place for a date. Everyone likes board games now and then, so you immediately have something to do in case of sudden boredom. And if it really turns out to be a disaster, you’ll have enough special beers to drink and forget about your dating grief. Also fine.
Berlijn Café – Korvelseweg 169
The only thing you can hold against this bar is its full-on hipster feel. Stretched piercings, good-sized beards and a variety of tattoos – the bartenders know what’s up here & heute. Berlijn is a great spot, though. In the summer, you can chill out on the wooden benches and keep an eye on the Korvelseweg. In winter, you can hide behind the frosted windows in this ubergeil bar with unisex bathroom.
