Dutch graduates face long job hunt
It is not easy for graduates to find a job at the Dutch job market, a survey among 576 graduates conducted by weekly magazine Intermediair shows.
It took 39 percent of the graduates that are now in a job three to six months to find suitable work. More than 31 percent even looked for a job more than seven months. 38 percent of the current job hunters expect it will take them longer than seven months to find work.
Almost a quarter of the graduates send more than thirty cover letters before they find suitable work. 22 percent of them has never been invited for a job interview. It is hard to get noticed, says 63 percent of the graduates. But somehow they do not put much creativity in their job search. Almost 90 percent thinks that it is enough to send a perfectly written cover letter and resume. Only 27 percent tries to get noticed by doing this in a more creative way.
