Tilburg University among cheapest Dutch universities

At many Dutch universities taking a second master’s degree will become much more expensive next year. The tuition fee for a master’s degree in science at the Universiteit Utrecht for example, will increase by tenfold, according to figures collected by news website nu.nl.

The tuition fee increase is the result of an amendment under former Education minister Ronald Plasterk. This made it possible for education institutions to ask higher tuition fees who take a second degree course.

Tilburg University will, as far as tuition for a second bachelor’s or master’s degree concerns,  be among the cheapest Dutch universities, a graphic at nu.nl shows.

Tuiton for a bachelor’s degree in arts will cost 2598 euros in Tilburg, in Amsterdam 9000 euros and in Groningen 6900 euros. Also a master’s degree at Tilburg University is relatively cheap – 6546 euros. In Utrecht students will pay more than double: 14,000 euros. [MW/transl. YV]
