International primary school planned for Tilburg
The lack of education in English for children could be a reason to turn down a job offer from Tilburg University. Soon there will be no need for that anymore. If all goes well a satellite international primary school in Tilburg could maybe start in the fall of next year. On June 9 there will be information meeting for parents of potential students.
The education of their children is an important issue for expats. According to a recent survey among international employees of Tilburg University, most parents would prefer to send their children to a regular Dutch school with a bilingual educational program or an international school. HR policy officer Erik van Beers thinks potential international employees turn down job offers because there is not such a facility in Tilburg.
The past year, Tilburg University, as largest expat employer in Tilburg, Tilburg International Club, the municipality of Tilburg and Eindhoven International School (EIS) worked out the initiative for housing an international wing in a regular Dutch school. Out of a list of five possible schools the Jan Ligthart Huibeven School in the Reeshof was selected. A part of this school will become a satellite from the Eindhoven International School (EIS).
Depending on the number of applications and the approval from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the school could possibly start in the fall of 2012.
