Record number of entries for TIK week

A record number of participants has signed up for the TIK orientation week for students in Tilburg. The organization expects a total of about 2,700 participants. Compared to 2010 the number of participants has doubled (1,646 students).

Exact numbers can be determined only after the introduction week, as participants can also sign up for the program during the TIK-week. The increase is caused by combining the Welcome Week for international students and the TIK-week for Dutch students. In addition, the dates of the introduction week of Avans University of Applied Science and Fontys University of Applied Science have been adjusted, so all higher professional education students can join the citywide student introduction as well.

For years the TIK program stayed unchanged but this year there are same major changes. The closing party and the traditional pub crawl will no longer be held. New are: the Study Introduction Days (SID) organized by the various faculties.

The InformaTIK (TIK market), where student unions, student associations, sports clubs, political parties, nonprofit organizations and other companies present themselves to new students, will move from campus to the city centre. There will also be some stages with young talent, such as bands, street performers and dance acts.

The TIK-week takes place from Monday 22 August until Friday 26 August 2011. Univers will cover the TIK-week activities on this website.  Check daily for photo’s and reports.
