Students volunteer to walk with elderly
International students went for a walk with residents of retirement home De Duynsberg last Thursday. The students participated in a Serve the City project exclusively reserved for student organisation I*ESN.
The students were all partnered up with elderly in wheelchairs and spend a couple of hours shopping, including a drink and cake stop at Het Tuinhuis, at the Westermarkt.
Master’s student Ellen Thompson (USA) was one of the student volunteers. She says it was a very nice experience for students and elderly. “There was a lot of good energy. For international students it is a great opportunity to connect to Dutch culture. ”
