Students get more entry moments for master
To prevent that students take longer to graduate when the bachelor-before-master’s rule comes into effect, Tilburg University will introduce extra entry moments for several master’s programs. The uni is also considering more entry moments for other programs.
The Master of Human Resource Studies (Social Sciences) and the Research Master of the Faculty of Law will have multiple entry moments for sure. The Theology Faculty is looking at possibilities to do the same for its two master’s program Theology and Christianity and Society. “For Theology it is not a problem to create an extra entry moment if students ask for it. For the master’s program Theology and Christianity however, the student numbers are still too low”, reads the Executive Board’s proposal for the university council.
By introducing extra entry moments for several master’s programs, the Executive Board wants to prevent that university students switch to other universities that, unlike Tilburg, already offer a mid-year entry.
Tilburg University also consider to introduce extra starting moments for the bachelor thesis. However, “If there are clear arguments to have only one entry moment for a master’s program, it could be argued that there is only one moment to start writing the bachelor thesis”, the board says.
The proposal will be discussed at the university council meeting in December.
