Tilburg Uni ranks 128 in Social Sciences Taiwan Ranking

Tilburg University takes 128th place in the Social Sciences top 300 in the Taiwan Rankings, a wordwide university ranking based on scientific paper performance. In the Social Sciences Erasmus University Rotterdam tops the Dutch institutions. Tilburg takes the 9th place nationally.

In the overall top 500 universities of the Taiwan Rankings, which is topped 1 by Harvard University, all Dutch universities, except Tilburg University, appear.

The National Taiwan University began its annual ranking in 2007 and focused on the overall performance of each university in terms of quantity and quality of scientific papers. This year, besides the overall ranking that lists the top 500 universities, the National Taiwan University also included field-based and subject-based rankings.

Unlike the Times Higher Education and the QS World University rankings, which focus on overall university rankings, the Taiwan Ranking system emphasizes on scientific paper performance ranking. To evaluate scientific paper performance, it uses data from the Science Citation Index (CSI) and Social Sciences Citation Index (SCCI). The ranking system has three criteria to assess a university’s overall scientific paper performance: research productivity (weighting of 20%), research impact (30%), and research excellence (50%).
