‘@mzelst elected #campustweeter 2011

And the winner is … @mzelst! Tweeps on campus were busy with just one thing for over a week. Who is going to be #Univers #campustweeter 2011? After a three-headed Univers jury had reduced the number of nominees to four, it was up to the TiU community to cast their votes.

The four nominees (@mzelst, @arnoudvanhulst, @studystore_UvT and @mike_f_d) tried everything to get votes. Van Zelst had two campaign managers, Study Store threatened not to order books for the next semester and Michael Doove promised old ginger nuts.

697 votes were casted, including a large number of double votes. After a recount (based on IP-address) @mzelst (Marino van Zelst) won the election with 192 votes. On second place: @arnoudvanhulst with 152 votes, followed closely by @studystore_UvT with 151 votes. Last place was for Univers blogger @m_f_d (Michael Doove). He received 136 votes.

Van Zelst receives his victory prize on December 22. The other shortlist nominees are welcome at the ceremony. Moreover, we are curious about Zelst’s autobiography, for on December 8, he tweeted: “If you vote for me you get my autobiography: How I Became Campustweeter 2011.”
