Too little is done with feedback surveys

Each year colleges and universities spend money on feedback surveys, but they don’t do enough with the outcomes. It’s a shame, because it can actually improve the quality of higher education.

Results of the surveys are mainly used for external accountability, says Suzanne den Tuinder from Odion Education Research. The information provided by those evaluations should be used in a better way, especially now when the Ministry of Education insists on improvement in education quality.

With surveys among the students and teachers, higher education can determine where the problems are and what measures proved successful in the past, says den Tuinder. The results are available for most institutions, but they end up in the drawer.
