Tilburg can call itself the city with the best amateur art. A prize of €20.000 is connected to this award.
City’s that optimally stimulate local amateur art can qualify for the prize of the Bank of Dutch Communities (Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten). The judges praise Tilburg for its high number of opportunities for development, networking, cooperation manifestation, amateur artists are given. Tilburg offers accessible advice and knowledge to amateur artists.
The other nominees for the prize for the best amateur art community 2012 were Deventer, Lelystad and Zaanstad.
Tilburg, as the winner, may open the National Week of Amateur Arts, which will start of June 2nd and last till June 9th.
