Unrest among students

The university counselors have a handful of work responding to students’ questions and complaints about new regulations introduced by the Ministry of Education. In some Universities the students wait up to four weeks for the response.

Many students do not know what to expect and want clarity, reports the today’s Brabants Dagblad. The changes in the study regulations provide much uncertainty and confusion.

“We receive the most questions about the implementation of the ‘hard cut’ and the long-study fine,” says the student counselor Mies Hezemans. “The combination of several new regulations makes it especially difficult. Previously everything was coordinated. Now the situation differs completely from student to student. The students want to know what is the most reasonable thing to do.”

The “hard cut” enters into force in the course of the academic year 2012-2013 and entails that students first complete their Bachelor degree before they can start their Masters. Now all Bachelor courses have a minimum one Master program that the students can follow even if they are still doing their Bachelor program.
