Windesheim graduates received diplomas unfairly

Two independent studies investigated the quality of training in Windesheim College of journalism. It turns out that 23% of the studied research reports written since 2009 are of insufficient quality. Also, 9% of the internship reports do not meet the requirements.

Since 2009 there are 360 ??students graduated from the journalism program of Windesheim HBO insitution. In total 192 research reports and 325 internship reports received a second opinion. It was not possible to review all papers. Windesheim has an internal retention of two years, and many internships had been done before September 2009. Of the total number of graduates 86 people were contacted with the message that one or more of their final works did not meet the requirements. Nevertheless, the diplomas remain valid.

All 360 graduates were offered a Windesheim master program as compensation. Albert Cornelissen of the Executive Board says in the press release: “The most important thing is that the diploma is valid. However, we can imagine that the group of graduates doesn’t feel comfortable with the situation. Windesheim feels responsible. Therefore, we would like to offer the whole group of former students the series of master classes.”
