Two enrollment dates for master programs at School of Economics
Next year the School of Economics and Management at Tilburg University wants to give an opportunity to start all master programs either in September or in February. This would increase the flow of undergraduates and will make the masters more attractive for foreign students.
The plan is that from 2012 the students can choose one out of two dates of enrollment for a master program in International Management and Accounting. The final decision is not yet made, but the aim is to introduce such a rule in 2013 for all masters of the School of Economics and Management.
The cuts in higher education are a main reason for this change. The faculty aims to facilitate the flow of undergraduates and thus counterbalance the negative effects of the hard cut and the long study fine.
According to the “hard cut”policy, a student can only start a master program when the bachelor is completed. Students who take only two months longer do finish their bachelor have to wait a whole year before they can continue their education. With a second enrollment date in February the waiting time is considerably shorter.
In addition, the faculty wants to attract more foreign students. The two enrollment dates are expected to be attractive and more flexible for students from abroad.
