Sandwich cart disappeared from campus

Perhaps you have already noticed: the sandwich cart at the entrance of the campus is missing since the carnival holiday. Manager Corne Brands tells us what is going on.

Where is the car?
“At the owners’ house. The sandwich cart has been on campus for about two years. It was the idea of two IBA students (Tim Verlaan and Mark Snoeijen). They wanted to sell snacks, got a permit from the municipality, and bought the cart. In the beginning the sales were not that high, but every month it got better. Both Tim and Mark graduated last year and got another job. Their first idea was to have the cart run by students, but the idea soon turned out not to be realistic.”

Why haven’t you hired staff?
“That’s too expensive. On a good day, we sell 60 sandwiches. The costs are low, but the profits are not high enough for someone to be hired. The cart has been returned to the owners. The authorization to sell sandwiches at that place is still on my name. I am looking for someone who wants to take over the permit to start a business there. Hopefully someone will take over soon.”

There is an Albert Heijn in the neighborhood, the campus has several restaurants. Was the competition fierce?

“No, as far as I know, the sales never dropped, even with the opening of the new catering concepts.”
