New Liberation Festival on campus
Tilburg has conquered a new Liberation Festival. The Muzentuin in the city centre will be the stage of several performances on May 5th, such as VOF de Kunst, Chili con Fusion and the Vengaboys.
Until May 2010, the Piushaven held an annual Liberation Festival. Without any organizers last year, Dirk de Leeuw and Tilburg University-student Emiel Veersma have seized the opportunity of organizing the free Tilburg festival this year. With a new concept and a new location, they hope for a new annual event. With a Scottish flavor, the organizers said, because it was the Scottish 15th division that delivered Tilburg from the German occupier in 1944. How they will shape this Scottish accent is not clear yet.
The afternoon will – with Disney-presenter Jelle Amersfoort as a host and music of VOF de Kunst and others – be organized for children and their parents. The night will belong to the students, with performances of Chili con Fusion, the Vengaboys and beats by DJ’s Flamboyant and Fonk.
The Liberation Festival Tilburg is free.
