Registration subjects: lack of places to be addressed

You cannot follow mandatory Bachelor courses because there are no places left. Electives for a Master program are full. Regular university students face such matters every semester.

During the enrollment period it’s a rat race. Hundreds of students at the same time sit behind their computers to register via COMAP. Unfortunately, PC is a bit slow and after a few minutes the course is full. The only option is to wait until next year. The risk is that you will encounter the same problem again. Fractie SAM says that there is a solution and wrote a note about the problem to the Executive Board.

Renee van der Ploeg from Fractie SAM: “When mandatory courses are offered, there are sometimes insufficient number of places. This is not acceptable. You just have to follow a compulsory course. I do not know how many students are left behind. We have not heard specific complaints, but we hear in the corridors regularly. It holds for several studies, at least in for the law students at Tilburg Law School. ”

The faculty council of the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (TSB) gets regular complaints from undergraduates who have problems with the registration of MTO subjects. There are also problems with the Skills Group Discussion with the course in Psychology.

The Board has three months to respond to the note of SAM. Rector Philip Eijlander told Univers: “We now look at how big the problem is and what are the causes of the limitations in certain subjects. Then we will comment on the note of SAM. “
