Clarity about the part-time studies at the end of 2013
It takes one and a half year to clarify about the funding for part-time students. In the meantime, Secretary Halbe Zijlstra consults the issue with students, social partners and other stakeholders in the education sector. He is also considering gathering a commission of experts to help with the decision.
Zijlstra wants the system of funding for part-time studies to be much stricter. Students who follow studies with a particular social or economic importance (such as technology, healthcare and education) can have a part-time scholarship, other students will have to pay for their own. The plan receives a lot of criticism. At the end of 2013, the Secretary of State with hopefully present a final plan.
