Site-specific poems appear in Tilburg
Have you ever noticed poems written on the houses, walls or on the ground of the streets of Tilburg? The KORT- Project marked the city with site-specific poems. Look carefully under your feet and you can find yourself walking on one of them.
Written on walls or shaped with the paving stones. There are many original ways in which the KORT- Project promotes the poems of Neijnens Sander and Nick J. Swarth. It started in 2008 and was completed last week. The project is supposed to make the passersby look more carefully and intensively at the urban space. Each poem has a link to the location it is placed. According to the authors “a text on the specific place on the ground adds something special to the spatial quality.” Unfortunately, not every Tilburg citizen is aware of the changes in their environment. You can see their reactions in the movie.
The starting point of the project was the poem Mussenmanieren that could be read on Heuvelstraat in 2007.
