Free wifi for student and staff in city

The Tilburg city centre will become WIFI free for students and staff of higher education institutions. Some areas can already make free use of Eduroam (education roaming) hotspots. Eventually there will be access points in the whole city centre.

The project, called’ Hotcity’, is part of Tilburg is Thuis, a campaign of the municipality and higher education institutions that aims to put Tilburg on the map.

The city centre is now connected to the Eduroam wireless network, like across campus. Eduroam is an international education roaming service, which, in the Netherlands, is run by the Dutch computer network for higher education and research SURFnet. Students and staff are able to log onto the education roaming hotspots by using of the Tilburg University username and password.

For now there are ten hotspots with roaming access through Eduroam in the city. More access points will follow. To get a complete coverage, the service will also be connected to the network of residents.
