More Flemish students go to a psychologist
Last year a record number of 1,865 Flemish students ended on the psychologist sofa. Most of them, 1,256 young people, were enrolled at the KU Leuven. The other universities have lower rates in this regard, mostly because they employ fewer psychologists. However, the number of those looking for help increased by year.
One in 45 young people seek help because of anxiety, concentration problems or stress, according to figures from the Flemish universities. “It is striking that most students seek help,” writes the Flemish newspaper De Morgen.
Also at Tilburg University more and more students rely on the student psychologist.
