Students to start serving alcohol responsibly
The Dutch umbrella organization for student associations LKvV aims to do something about the alcohol abuse among students. Through a special website it offers an online responsible serving course for volunteer bartenders.
The online course consists of various texts and pictures of situations, which the volunteer bartenders need to assess. Jan Boers, chairman of the LKvV: “I ??will not deny that we regularly drink at student union meetings, but in cooperation with all organisations we try to prevent excessive alcohol use. Social control by members is not enough. We should also to be proactive in creating a good and workable alcohol policy for students.” [MW]
