Students cannot do without parents money
Without financial support from their parents most students would be doomed. Six in ten students receive pocket money from their parents.
The Nibud students research 2011-2012 shows that students living on their own get from their parents, on average, €233 per month. Because the rent is not a problem for those still living with their mommy, they also get much less: on average €100 per month.
Don’t think that parents just give the money for partying and booze. 68% of parents are smart and pay specific expenditures, mainly the tuition fee, health insurance and study materials.
The average disposable income of a student is 770 euro per month, according to Nibud. It’s not bad, mainly because only part of it was earned with blood, sweat and tears. The rest comes from study grants and health care and rental allowances. and, of course, Mom and Dad chipping in.
