Rabobank annoyed by international students

“We request international student with questions to go to the International Office at the university. We will not answer your questions!” This unpleasant note greets the clients of Rabobank (Westermarkt). It is certainly not a warm welcome to the new international students.

A employee at Rabobank explains: “We do not hate international students. We open a bank account for them and give them information brochures in English about how everything works. But they don’t read it. They always come with all sorts of questions; we even need to give them instruction lessons. But we really don’t have time. “

The bank employee has a point. Among the customers waiting in line there are four international students (out of seven people waiting) with questions about their account. The employee points to a fellow employee sitting at a table with computers. Behind the computers are two international students getting instructions about internet banking.
