Tolerance praised at “Meet the World” event

The first Meet the World lunch meeting took place yesterday. Nathan de Groot, a former Campus Poet, gave the presentation and interviewed four students. The topic of the meeting was Europe.

In light of the current elections, Nathan spoke with four students about their idea of Europe. Two Liberal Arts students from Ecuador and Peru, a student from Ireland and a research master student from Slovakia discussed this notion. The four of them were especially content about the tolerance of the Netherlands. They felt very welcomed by the society. The Slovak student praised open borders and their benefits.

Perhaps the best comment of the lunch meeting was: “The open borders ensure not only freedom of movement of people, but also a freedom of exchanging ideas.”
