LSVb wants to extend registration date

The National Union of Students (LSVb) wants the universities and colleges to postpone their registration deadline. Many students have not enrolled this year to avoid a long study fine.

You could enroll at a university or college until 1 October. Ironically, on October 1 the politicians Samsom and Rutte cancelled the long study fine. Many students who have not registered at the university to avoid the fine missed the opportunity to study this year.

Therefore, the LSVb wants the registration date to be extended until 10th October.

The long study fine was supposed to be introduced this academic year. Students who took more than one extra year to obtain their degrees  had to pay a fine of 3000 euros annually. Last Monday Rutte and Samson decided that the long study fines will not be collected. The already paid fines will be refunded as soon as possible, probably by the beginning of year 2013.
