TiU keeps collecting long study fines
Tilburg University maintains its policy on long study fines until it becomes more clear. This means that Tilburg University continues to collect long study fines.
On Tuesday, 9 October, the House of Representatives decided to cancel the long study fine. Univers received a confirmation of this information by Leon van Schie, the spokesperson of the House of Representatives.
On Monday, 12.45: Halbe Zijlstra, HBO council and the VSNU agreed that the long study fine has to be stopped “as soon as possible. Also, the institutions have to stop collecting the fine. Tilburg University, however, continued collecting the money because it still had not received an official notice from the Ministry of Education. Only when clear instructions are received, the TiU will adjust its policy.
The Tilburg University website warns that the provisional partial agreement is not yet final and that the law about the long study measures still exists.
Therefore, the long study fines still have to be paid. But don’t worry: if everything goes as planned, the collected fines will be refunded as soon as possible.
