Professor undresses in front of class

Boring lectures?  In the States they know how to make students pay attention! Professor Emlyn Hughes at Columbia University gave a striptease during class.

Quantum mechanics  is a tough subject. To make sure his students did not fall asleep, Emlyn Hughes undressed during class while eating a banana. After the striptease, assistants placed two stuffed animals on stage  and impaled one with a sword, while showing images of 9/11, Hitler and Stalin. In the meantime, Hughes was lying on the floor in a fetus position. This bizarre performance took 5 minutes, than the class began.

“In order to learn quantum mechanics, you have to strip to your raw, erase all the garbage from your brain and start over again,” according to the professor. Only then, you can be open to the strange world of quantum mechanics which is the opposite of reality. Apparently a strip act and the molesting of stuffed animals contributes to openness.

Several students taped the class. It didn’t take long for movies to show up on the internet. The board of Columbia University will review the behavior of the professor. A spokesman of the university said faculty members have academic freedom to outline their classes.  The theme of the class was “Frontiers of Science”.
