International TOP-week program

The schedule of the international week Tilburg Orientation Program (TOP) has been announced. International master and exchange students will attend different activities than the Dutch and international bachelor students. Location and time may differ for each specific group in the international program.

The Spoorzone is the place to be for registration of the TOP-week on Monday morning at fifteen past eleven. International master and exchange students will eat at different locations compared to bachelor students. Exchange students, for example, will eat at the sports center on Wednesday.

Dutch students will gather with student associations from the 19th till the 23rd of August. According to TOP-chairwoman Iris van Hoeve not all international students are font of student associations. “Master and exchange students often don’t become a member of a student association because they remain in the Netherlands for only one year. Moreover the meetings are not visited or poorly rated by this group. The international students have different needs. They often choose to arrange their new bank account or to buy a bike when the TOP-activities during the day have come to an end.” New international and Dutch bachelors will be eating together with students from societies. Experience has taught the TOP 2013 board that international students who stay in the Netherlands for more than one year like to integrate within a student association.

The students from abroad will be screened for tuberculosis on Friday. During the investigation the Public Health Service shall determine the risk of TBC.

The rest of the two programs are practically identical. Prior to a barbeque the TOP-Week will officially be opened at the Spoorzone during an opening party on Monday. On Tuesday there will be a hypnosis show held in Theaters Tilburg. During the afternoon the TOP-festival will take place at the Konings- and Willemsplein. The TOP-location will shift from the Spoorzone to the Leijpark for game activities on Wednesday. Bachelor and master students can attend a sports program organized by FOSST (the student sport society formally known as Pendragon) on Thursday. During this time exchange students will have a study introduction, but will meet FOSST-students on Wednesday evening for activities. Students can participate in a drinking party and a pub crawl on Thursday evening.
