UvT receives 6 million for international collaboration

Tilburg University receives six million euro’s from the European Commission (EC) to improve international collaboration. Three exchange programs will be financed by the grants.  The university will exchange staff with the Eastern Europe, Latin America and South Africa to increase the mobility of students and staff.

The EC wants to strengthen the position of European higher education and wants to make education more attractive. The projects are part of the Erasmus Mundus program of the EU.

The three proposals in which Tilburg University participates should increase reciprocal exchange between the university and other countries. There is nearly 4 million euros available for the exchange program with the Eastern European countries. The mobility project in South Africa will receive 2 million euros.

Three hundred thousand euros will be spend on increasing the mobility between Latin America and the university. According to Guido van Leerzem, staff member of Internationalization Office, the project in Latin America is focused on networking. The exchange is smaller compared to the other two projects. In four meetings with local staff and academics themes as accreditation, cooperation and employability will be discussed.
