Minister: 500 million for exchange students
Dutch education minister Jet Bussemaker spends almost 500 million Euros to help students and teachers obtain experience abroad in the next seven years, using the new European program Erasmus+.
The money can be used to enroll in exchange programs, language education and internships. Bussemaker wants to stimulate students and teachers to use the facilities optimally. ‘Dutch students have to look further than The Netherlands and explore other countries. This is good for students’ development, but also for our knowledge-based economy.’
The next 7 years, 14.7 million Euros will be made available through the program, for education, training, youth and sports. This is an increase of 40% with reference to the former program.
