More Greek students at TiU

Since the economic crisis struck, The Netherlands became a popular place for Greek students. The increase is also noticeable at Tilburg University. Most Greek students come for a master study. In three years, there number went from 14 to 43.

In Greece, youth unemployment rates now lie at 60 percent, a percentage that stimulates young Greeks to move elsewhere. At the bachelor studies and premasters, this doesn’t really show. There are six Greek bachelor students and three premaster students.

At other universities, the number of Greek students also increases. In Delft, they even knocked the Chinese from their throne. With 600 students, they are now the most represented foreign student group. In Tilburg, there are more Chinese students. At this moment, there are 111 Chinese students and 51 Greek students.

In The Netherlands, there are 2000 Greek students. For comparison: in Germany there are 2600, but the Germans have ten times as many universities.
