Warning: phone scam targeting international students
There are reports of a telephone scam targeting international students. If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be with the Dutch Immigration Organization (IND), do not give any personal details and do not transfer any money.
Tilburg University placed a warning on its intranet earlier today. Scammers pretending to be IND staff members call international students in an attempt to persuade them to transfer money to a fake IND bank account.
If you receive a suspicious phone call, you are kindly requested to report this immediately to the IND. You can do so by calling 088 04 304 70, or by sending an email to meldpunt@ind.minvenj.nl.
