Keuzegids Universiteiten 2021: five Tilburg University Bachelor’s programs in first place

Five Tilburg University Bachelor’s programs are the best in their disciplines, according to the Keuzegids Universiteiten 2021. Three of these programs are qualified as “top programs.” The university itself holds a fifth position in the general ranking.

De Keuzegids Universiteiten is an annual, independent comparison of all universities and their Bachelor’s programs. Normally, this ranking is largely based on the National Student Survey, in which hundreds of thousands of students assess their study programs. This year is different, as due to the coronavirus crisis, it was decided not to allow the NSE to be held.

Therefore, the assessments of the NSE 2019 have been re-used, which has led to the new ranking being similar to last year. By giving extra weight to the study success of programs this year, an attempt has been made to make a distinction. This was mainly done by looking at how many students enrolled for the second year and how many of them graduate without study delays.

A general fifth place

The general ranking of universities is divided into two categories: ‘broad, classical universities’ and ‘other universities.’ Tilburg University belongs to other universities because it does not offer study programs that belong to the exact sciences.

Within this category, the university occupies a fifth place with a total score of 63.5. The positioning remains the same as the year before, while the total score has risen somewhat (62).

Five best Bachelor’s programs in their disciplines

Five of Tilburg University’s twenty assessed Bachelor’s programs score best of all Dutch bachelor’s programs in their disciplines. These include the programs Philosophy, Online Culture, Global Law and Economics. The study program in Tax Law also holds a shared first place.

Of these studies, three are allowed carry the predicate “top program.” These are Bachelor’s programs that have a final score of 75 points or more. For example, the Philosophy and Online Culture programs obtained 80 and 76 points respectively. The study program Economics (86) is also qualified as a top program again.
