Brainport Eindhoven smartest region in the world

Brainport Eindhoven has been named the smartest region in the word by the international think tank Intelligent Communicaty Forum (ICF) in New York on June 3. The ICF studies the economic and social development of the 21st Century community.

The past three years Brainport was nominated for the award. Officially the network of innovative technological and creative companies is in Eindhoven, but it includes a variety of businesses in the Southeast Netherlands. Famous ‘big boys’ are, for example, Philips, DAF, ASML, VDL, TomTom and FEI.

Tilburg University, represented by Hein van Oorschot, participates in the Brainport Board.

Previous winners of the prize, among others, were Stockholm (Sweden), Taipei (Japan) and Glasgow (UK). Annually, three hundred cities or regions enroll for this competition.
