Stapel seriously ill
Diederik Stapel is in severe mental distress. He no longer lives with his family and he is said to be ‘seriously ill’. “My husband is not at home. He is very ill and gets care elsewhere”, his wife Marcelle Stapel-Hendricks said to Dutch daily newspapers de Telegraaf.
A confidential advisor of the Tilburg couple confirms Stapel’s wife story. “Diederik gets help and is seriously ill. He’s in really bad shape. Mentally, he is completely at rock bottom.”
