University graduates have the most job security

University graduates feel most secured about their jobs. The financial security is the lowest among the MBO’s.

This is reflected in the latest edition of the Tilburg Consumer Outlook Monitor (Tilcom) of Tilburg University and CentERdata carried out among Dutch consumers. The fear of unemployment has increased significantly. In 2012 the estimated chance of a Dutch employee becoming unemployed increased up to 18%. In the third quarter of 2011 this chance was still 16%.

Among all education groups, MBO students are the least optimistic. Their estimated probability of losing a job is the highest: 21%. University graduates with only 15% feel the most secured.

Other interesting data from the survey were: only 4% of the Dutch in 2012 is planning to buy a house and only 6% plan to buy a new car. Holidays remain important on the agenda. 52% want to book a stay of at least seven consecutive days.

The Tilburg Consumer Outlook Monitor (TILCOM) quarterly assesses feelings about the economy of over 2500 Dutch people.
