Katerina Blogs: The day I bought my first agenda
I am already on my second week through the new semester and I feel like I need summer vacation. Then I look outside and I realize that summer is yet to come, along with my plans for procrastination.
At first, as a true nerd I was really excited about all the new classes. The truth is I still am. Am I? I don’t know… I haven’t made up my mind yet. In fact, I have no time left to think about it. And that’s because of my gazillion deadlines piling up. On the bright side, there is a variety to choose from: Digging deep into databases to reveal journalistic stories, taking interviews, setting up blogs and promoting them through social media, conducting scientific research, designing applications, you name it!
They all are very creative and very exciting to work with. Part of it, because they are group assignments, meaning that I spend countless hours with my teammates, brainstorming, writing, building, digging etc. By the way, I can actually picture my mom’s face reading this post through her online translator. She’s definitely confused about my field of studies. It’s ok mom! I’ll explain!
Well, I have been equally confused these past few days to the point where I was meeting with the group mates and I wasn’t quite sure which assignment we were supposed to talk about. And that is why I decided to buy an agenda to write down everything. And when I say everything I mean EVERYTHING!
Now for some of you, this sounds funny or strange. ‘It’s been February already and you buy an agenda now??’ This is probably what the kind gentleman at the bookstore thought when he wished ‘Happy New Year’ to me. I had to apologetically reply ‘Thank you…It’s just that…I am falling a bit behind on schedule (and this is my last hope to keep my sanity)’.On the other hand, deciding to get organized now has it perks. I bought it 50% off! Apparently the peak season for buying an organizer for the following year is December or probably October if you’re German. But the Mediterranean spirits out there will understand. I have never owned one before, simply because I kept storing everything in my mind in different folders, subfolders etc. But apparently my brain capacity has reached its limit. For the sake of creativeness and academic grace of course!
Oh that reminds me…My agenda says that it’s time for my 5-minutes break.
