DUO launches a calculator for students
The upcoming changes in higher education can make student very confused. In order to give students insight into how much they have to pay next year, DUO launches a calculation.
On the site of DUO, students can answer a few questions to see what grants they can receive next year. They can also see if they have a right to travel for free (so called studentenreisproduct) and how much they can borrow. Supplementary grant, the subsidies of your partner and college loan are also shown in the table.
Questions the students should answer are: what kind of student grant you receive or have applied for, what type of studies you follow and what is your living situation? On the basis of these questions the student can apply for a study grant.
DUO indicates that the bill with the changes in higher education is not yet approved by the First and Second Chamber. Only the decision about a long study fine is final. DUO also warns students that the calculator shows only an approximation of their study grant and is not a base for claiming rights to the money.
