Weed pass under fire
On April 18 the lawsuit against the weed pass will take place. Four lawyers, on behalf of several coffee shops, joint forces to prevent the introduction of the weed pass. The introduction of the pass is supposed to enter into force on May 1. It is feared that this measure will work in favor of the illegal street market.
The coffee shops owner will be asked to register their customers. This will reduce the sporadic weed consumption, but can also make them dependent on the illegal street dealers. The danger is also that there will be little control of both what is sold, and of the age of users. Also, only 12% of users are willing to register. This can result in more people growing cannabis at home.
