Dissatisfaction with stricter course Maranatha

There is a fight going on about the course of Maranatha, the student church. Now that former pastor Hub Lenders retires,  the celebrations will have to be carried out in the “normal Catholic way”. The ecumenical table service will be prohibited from 2013 and the Eucharist service will be done according to the approved religious books. ” Henk van Winkel, president of the church council, has quitted his job because he does not agree with the new rules.

In a letter Van Winkel explains that now, with the stricter rules, he feels like he is a stranger in his own house. He assumes that the blessings of multicolored groups, non-Catholic and non-heterosexuals will no longer be included during masses, which he sees as an intolerable restriction.

The former preacher in Marantha, Hub Lenders, did not strictly follow religious books and led the services in his own way. Since September 1 Michiel Peeters, is appointed the new preacher. The progressive church council now collides with the more conservative diocese in den Bosch.

Chaplain Michiel Peeters did not comment on the issue. “This is a matter between the church council and the diocese.The university and I will not comment.”
